Frequently Asked Questions about Open Appraisal Day:
What items are you looking for?
A: We’ll look at anything! We are particularly interested in Coins, Jewelry, Sterling, Fine Art, Antique Furniture, and Firearms & Militaria.
Do I need an appointment?
A: Appointments aren't required, but they are highly recommended. Simply call our offices to set one up, and avoid waiting in line!
How many items can I bring in?
A: As a courtesy, we ask that you limit the number of items you bring in for Open Appraisal Day to five (5) or fewer.
What if I have more than five items?
A: No problem! Give us a call or email us and we can discuss your options.
Can I leave things with you to sell at auction?
A: Yes! If we determine that your items will sell for a reasonable price, you can consign them and leave them with us to be stored in our warehouse until they go to auction. The appraiser will be able to give you an idea of about how long it will be until your items are sold, and you will receive a call the week before the auction to let you know your items are coming up.
What if I just want to drop things off?
A: While we welcome consignments on Open Appraisal Day, it is not the best day for us to handle large drop-offs. Call or email us and we can schedule you another time to bring in your items. Drop off appointments are usually scheduled on Thursdays.
I don’t want to sell my things—I just want to know what they’re worth.
A: That’s okay! There’s no obligation to consign when you bring items in.
I don't want an appraisal, I just want to know if you can sell my things.
A: If you have five or fewer items, then Open Appraisal Day is a great way to do that. We can also review photos of more items with you and let you know whether they are items we could take in. You can also email photos or lists ahead of time to be reviewed rather than coming into the office in person.
What if my items are too large to bring in?
A: We can give you a general appraisal from photographs. No need to print them out—we have no problem looking at cell phone or other digital pictures. Try to make the photos as clear as possible, and make sure to include any details (signatures, carvings, etc) that you want us to notice.
Where are you?
A: Our offices are located at 1500 Paxton Street in Harrisburg. We are right off of the 13th Street exit from 83 Northbound, or the 17th Street exit from 83 Southbound. You can view maps and directions here.
My question isn’t on this list!
A: Give us a call anytime! We’re in the office Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM. If you don’t get one of us, leave a message and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
